Day 2 Chickahominy Park to Richmond, VA

Total distance: 44.7 miles, +/- elevation: 1342/1125, weather: sunny upper 40’s in morning low 70’s by afternoon

The route we are on is US bicycle route 76.
This is the first sign that we have seen.

Great ride today mostly on the Virginia Capital Trail. The paved trail runs from Jamestown right into downtown Richmond. We were about 4 miles out of downtown and still in farmland. Things quickly changed to a busy urban bike trail. We turned on to downtown streets riding uphill to our hotel in rush hour traffic.

Big bike on the trail.

Lots of Revolutionary war markers so far. This is the first one I have seen from the Civil War. Pat and I are going to be fighting the battle of sore bottom.

Thanks so much your comments and interest our trip. We have enjoyed reading all of them.

  1. Sounds like a great day and so nice to be staying in a hotel! Getting to take showers and sleep in a bed has to feel like luxury. You sure are getting to take in lots of American history. Love reading your blog!

  2. Jumping Jehoshaphat ! From 30.8 to 44.7 in two days ? Excellent trend line. You’ll be clocking daily centuries by the weekend.
