Day 9 Lexington, VA to Natural Bridge State Park, VA

Total miles 15, +/- elevation 1122/1027, Total miles so far 290. Weather 70’s cloudy with a little rain.

The forecast today was for a lot of rain. It appeared we had a couple of dry hours so we decided to go only 15 Miles to Natural Bridge State Park. Beautiful park, lots of history and the forecast rain did not happen.

We were able to get a hotel room at historic The Natural Bridge Hotel right across the street from the park visitor center and walking distance to the path to the Natural Bridge. We got a deal on the room because the hotel was undergoing renovation.

Pat trying to get rid of bike again but Mark thought fine might be too high

Natural Bridge

Bee hive inside Visitor Center.

Along the road….. wool on the hoof.
One in back jumping to eat leaves off tree!
More creatures along the road.
Old switchboard in the hotel.
View from our balcony.
Pat in front of the hotel.
Mary shares her lunch.

Mark, Pat, Mary, and Scott. Mary and Scott are from Ohio and we have been traveling with them for a few days. Scott is riding his bike and Mary is hiking and driving her minivan and providing support. Scott is a faster rider and will be going ahead of us tomorrow so this is the last time we will see them for a while. Will miss them as we have had a lot of fun.

  4. Riding that many miles doesn’t look like fun to me! But it’s probably a lot healthier then just sitting around watching pics of others exercising! 😀

  6. What great pictures! I thought you were passing a kid’s park until I saw when of you in front of the gorilla😳. You are taking me places I probably wouldn’t ever see. Thank you both.
