We took a rest day and stayed an extra day in Berea at the Boone Tavern Hotel. We walked around the campus of Berea college and did some laundry.

Walked a mile to this laundromat. Looks abandoned and several of the machines were broken but we were able to get our laundry done.

Berea College has an amazing story. Students pay no tuition and work 10 hours per week at jobs on campus. Most students come from low income families in Appalachia.

As we were sitting on the porch these two westbound cyclists rode by. They stopped around the corner and we talked for a while. Drew and Ryan are moving pretty fast and have already done a 100+ mile day in these hills!
You two are amazing. Love reading your daily updates and living vicariously through your adventures!

Ha, Pat, love your biker tan – great stripes! Glad to see you finding time to knit :). Berea College sounds very interesting – love how students work on campus to earn their ability to attend the school.

Gary and I are enjoying your stories of Kentucky hospitality !! Now you know why we enjoy our place on the lake. People really are caring, and we’re glad you are getting to experience some of them.
