Day 91 Eugene, OR

We had a great day in Eugene. Shelly and Yens did a grand tour of The University of Oregon. “Go Ducks” Did laundry, grocery shopping and enjoyed an home cooked Oregon Salmon dinner. Pam and Ken friends of Shelly and Jens joined us so very fun.

Our tour guides can’t imagine how high our bill will be with overnight stay, meals and tour!

You know these two!

Hayward Field – World Class Track and Field Facility. Eugene is home to the legendary track coach Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight who founded Nike. Bowerman was unhappy with running shoes his athletes were able to obtain and started making his own using his wife’s waffle iron to make soles for running shoes. Phil Knight is a big donor to University of Oregon athletics.

Steve Prefontaine was one of the most esteemed American distance runners. On May 30, 1975 returning from a party in his MG swerved and hit a rock wall. Now it is Pre’s Rock a Memorial.

To this day people still leave artifacts at site.

Mark spent a lot of time planning for our upcoming days to get us to Astoria and then onto Seattle,WA.

  1. Something makes me think you two can see the finish line. Don’t hurry we all love your post, for many many reasons, one of which we are not riding with you.
