Day 98 Nehalem State Park, OR to Gearhart, OR

Today’s Stats: Miles 29,+/- Elevation, 2,024/1,926, Total Miles 3,322.

Only saw the sun for short time this morning mostly cloudy and in high 50’s. More beautiful costal views reduced a bit by clouds and fog. We rode through the ocean side towns of Canon Beach and Seaside and they were packed with tourists trying to escape the heat inland.

Visitor in campsite this morning.

Looking back at campground beach.

Many rocks on coastline two sand volleyball games in progress.

The ride today featured a tunnel with a button that activates sign alerting motorists that bicyclists are in the tunnel.

Will put our headlights to use

Matt from Texas starting TransAm eastbound to Virginia. New to biking so quite the undertaking…youth!!!

In Gearhart we stayed with a Warm Shower host (someone that extends their hospitality to cyclists) tonight Pat is our hostess. Pat drove support on a cross country bike tour in 2015 and enjoyed the hospitality of Warmshowers hosts and decided to offer her home for touring cyclists to stay.

We were grateful for showers, laundry, comfortable bed, dinner, breakfast and great conversation.

Hostess Pat’s friendly dog Annie.
